Mellow BMG Wind - Tool Change + Fan Duct (for Volcano only)

This is an mount for the Mellow NF BMG WIND with Volcano Hotend for my own Tool Change System.

This is an very robust and stiff and highly integrated extruder/hotend mount which I use since nearly 9 Months now. It utilizes my old self designed Parts cooler in an updated version which is super effective if you use an quality fan such as an Sunon 5015 6000 RPM Maglev one.

It is designed to don't require minimal support and mount with the two tiny M3 size holes the backside of the Mellow BMG wind has.

Install tutorial:

• I don't plan to invest the time and effort for an step by step tutorial.
• Use at your own risk.
• Use common sense, this thing is easy.
• Print without support.
• Insert the brass thread inserts as straight as possible into the two holes for it in the base.
• Sand/file things smooth that everything fits nicely but don't sand too much! You want it to slide smooth into each other without much effort but you don't want anything to be able to wiggle.
• Check if you you have to relocate the X-axis, Y-axis and Z-axis sensors before your first homing!!!
• You will need to redo your PID tuning!
• If using the dc42 IR Sensor you will need to print that part and probably be creative. This tiny part is usable, but not perfect.

Bill of material and required tools:

• My Tool Change System for OpenBuilds gantry with its required parts, the actually mountig piece (ToolConnector) for the Mellow Extruder/Hotend is included there.
• 2x Ruthex M4 thread inserts or similar (holes are sized for Ruthex ones!)
• 2x 15mm or 16mm M4 Screws (for fanHolder
• 2x 20mm M4 Screws (for 5015 fan)
• 2x M3 screws - I believe I used 16mm but I can't check without disassembling...
• 2x M3 locknuts (nuts with nylon insert)
• soldering iron
• an good 5015 fan - I highly recommend the 5015 6000 RPM Maglev ones!
• Volcano Hotend. It is designed from the start for the superior Volcano heater block, V6 will probably NOT work!

You have my permission to remix the Parts MellowWind_Base, MellowWind_FanDuctHolder and MellowWind_FanDuctBase to make changes like fitting other Z-Sensors and other accessories, the .step files for them is included

Notes:

PLA wont last for the Fan Duct, I highly recommend PETG for at least that part.
