I really liked MacialT's barbell collar, but I wanted tpu pads, counter-sunk holes, and hex nuts for added strength and durability. I also wanted a better latch grip for locking/unlocking the collars. I am very happy with this design, and it works really well.
You will need:
M4 SHCS 40mm x8
M4 SHCS 22mm x1
M4 nuts x9
M3 SHCS 30mm x1
M3 nut x1
Print Settings:
I believe you can use the same material and print settings of MacialT's original model. I used 5 walls, 5 top/bottom layers, and solid infill for extra strength. I also printed in ASA, but I'm certain ABS and PETG will work just fine. I do not recommend PLA since it will warp if left in a hot car. I also recommend using loctite on the screws/nuts, but be very careful as it will dissolve ASA and ABS.
The author remixed this model.
This remix is a bit thicker to allow for counter-sunk holes and hex nuts. I also added tpu pads for greater grip. I modified the latch to make it a bit longer (original was a bit short and broke after adding the tpu pads) and added an “easy latch” feature.
