Viewed from each side, themajor triad model shows the ratios of the notes in a major triad: the root, the major third and the fifth. When played in tune, the frequencies of these notes will be in the ratio 4:5:6. For example, an A major triad will have the frequencies 440:550:660.
The minor triad model is similar. However, the ratio is more complex, 10:12:15.
Notice how theminor triad model is more complex than the major triad model. In Western music, intervals with simple ratios sound more consonant, while intervals with more complex ratios sound more dissonant.
