Alternative set of hollow pieces for HedronStack balancing game.
You can see through them, if you print with transparent filament, you may be able to see through the sides partially as well.
You can either replace original pieces with the hollow or light ones or mix the sets. Mixing pieces with different weights in single tower can make the game more challenging.
There are two variants:
Hollow - Hollowed pieces. Durable.
Ultra-light - Lighter version. May break if you apply excessive violence, but still durable enough for normal play (can withstand repeated falls from 3 meters without any damage)
When compared to standard pieces with 15% infill:
Hollow: approx 92% printing time, 60% weight
Ultra-light: approx 66% printing time, 40% weight
Source code is attached. The provided OpenSCAD files needs the file with original pieces and will add the necessary holes to them to make the pieces hollow.
Printing recommendation from original more or less apply:
No supports required. Brim required (hollow version has even less surface contact than the original)
Nozzle: 0,4mm
Layer height: 0,12mm
Parameters: 3
Top/Bottom solid layers, Infill: irrelevant, the model is hollow
Cooling: 100% for overhangs
If you have trouble with curling corners, print slower or reduce the nozzle temperature (e.g. 205 °C for PLA and Silk).
I've test printed with 0,2mm layer and it looks still fine :)
The author remixed this model.
