Update Feb 16, 2026: I've added a nice Japanese Stone variant (v2 of v2) with the Dice Garden and Dice Jail as well as reduced the size of the tower. This is the one I recommend that you print although I have some more plans for updates to try to reduce filament usage and improve print quality.

The dice jail fits up to 11 dice - maybe more if you tetris them in (you can see the gif of me storing a full set below) but can absolutely fit those one or two bad d20 that has been misbehaving. They can still see out of the jail cell and watch their friends fly by and they can learn the correct way to roll - note that this is not punishment - it is a rehabilitative dice jail by design. The dice jail can also work as storage but note that the dice garden has a pretty loose fit so this won't work unless you add thick paint or sticky tack to introduce more of a friction fit.

The other caps have iffy fits but this newest one is really good but this might be tougher to slide on if it's painted.. The dice garden fits in very loosely - you can either add sticky tack or if you paint it then it might have more of a friction fit. I spent hours trying to create consistent dowels for this but each hole in the base of the tower seemed to be slightly different and it was a pain. I left a small circular hole in the bottom of the dice garden section so that maybe a key lock piece could be added in that sockets into the base of the tower pole - I'll be looking at this in a future update.

Next up I'm going to look at making a textured cap and textured dice garden flooring (maybe increasing the height on the wall too or adjusting the shape too. I also plan to overhaul the "stair maker" that I'm using - I built it so long ago so some updates should improve the dice jail's print quality, reduce filament usage and hopefully make this printable on resin printers as well. Once these changes are done I'll add a bunch more textured variants and then we'll call this model done.

  • the tealight I'm using is this one here: https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B09WR8M663?th=1 but I've removed the shell. I tried to find standalone "flickering" leds but it was cheaper and easier to buy these. They were $14.99 (CAD) when I bought them in Oct 2024 and now look like they're $16.99 so they've gone up ~ 13% in two years but they come with CR2032 batteries and to buy 24 of those is like $12 so they're effectively charging $4 for 24 switches and plastic candle shells. Not bad imo.

From my recent work on Fort Nandar I've been building lots of Geometry Nodes to help with structure building. I wanted to step back from the monster Castle / Forts for a moment and revisit my supportless dice tower which I really liked but it was a lot of manual effort. This V2 version was something I make in a day instead of the previous which was probably over the course of a week. Additionally I've built this as a nice little workflow so I can reskin and generate these very quickly. These are a bit larger than my previous version which means that they can accommodate larger dice (up to 25mm should work) which is nice.

Today I have a few variants available:

  • Stone Japanese v2 - Reduced size, added dice garden and jail

  • Stone Japanese - Small stone bricks using the "Japanese Stone" texture from Polyhaven

  • Brick Villa - Alternating brick tiles that go vertical and then horizontal

  • Brick Stone - Standard horizontal bricks

There are also some optional covers for the top of the stairs in case you want to stage some rolls otherwise the top is open and dice can come out really fast. I have a textured and untextured version of these. These fit somewhat loosely so they can rotate - you can glue it into place if you like or increase the number of wall loops when printing for a tighter fit.

For printing - please don't print these in resin as it will use a lot. If you want a resin dice tower I can make one with much much thinner walls for you just let me know in the comments and I'll make it happen.

For my test print of the Villa Brick tower I ran it at 0.2mm layer height with a 0.06mm nozzle, 2 wall loops and 5% infill. I've included a 3mf file as well. The job took about 6hrs to complete and used 200g of filament.
