Alligator Clip Leads are something I use quite often to jump wires and components from one prototyping project to the next, and they are a pain in the ass to organize.
For a few weeks now I have been using a piece of 1/16" craft foam duct-taped to the bottom of one of my drawer boxes to hold the clip leads. I really like this method as it organizes and cleanly displays the leads for easy access. Unfortunately this mounting method is flawed in that the duct tape does not like to stick to anything for long in an air-conditioned environment due to the air-conditioning system pulling all of the moisture out of the air.
I designed this part to be 3D printed and mounted to any over-hanging surface with a minimum width of 30mm. When mounted with 3M foam mounting tape, it will stick forever and has enough room for about 25-30 clip leads.
I have included the sketchup file if you want to modify this to suit your needs. If you modify please re-upload and mark as a derivative of this project. Also if you make one, list it as a make! I love seeing other people print my designs!
Print with a layer height of between .2 and .3 using 30% infill. A brim of 8-10mm helps with warping when using ABS.
Mount to an overhanging surface like the bottom of a shelf. The part is 180mm long by 30mm wide. Mount using 3M double-sided foam mounting tape.
