Prusa Core One - Comfortable height display

PLEASE READ FIRST

Experimental display adapter: This adapter for the Prusa Core One / Core One + is at the beginning purely experimental at this stage. The fit, handling, and assembly of this adapter are still being tested.

Please note: The ribbon cables between Buddy and the display are too short for plug-and-play operation. The ribbon cable needs to be 120 cm long. It must be extended, either by soldering or by purchasing two new connectors.

Project background

Even before purchasing the conversion kit MK4S for Core One, I reserved a spot for the new printer where it would eventually be placed.

Unfortunately, I am taller than average and prefer to work standing up and at eye level.

In order to avoid further damage to my spine at my advanced age, I decided to find a way to raise the display to eye level.

Mount the display housing

To attach the adapter to the original display housing, I initially opted for a simple solution. Two holes in the adapter indicate the position that needs to be transferred to the display housing.

I drilled two 2.5 mm holes into the Prusa display housing at these markings. Two M3 x 10 countersunk screws hold everything in place on the adapter. 

The screws cut themselves into the 2.5 mm holes as they are turned.

Mounting the adapter on the profile

The prepared display with the adapter plate is now attached to the upper profile of the Prusa Core One housing using two M3 x 10 mm countersunk screws, one washer, and two self-locking nuts.

What next?

I will design a clean cable routing from the display housing to the buddy and maybe also implement a display adjustment.
