I started recently printing RC planes, and quickly need a way to store them. As a renter, drilling into the ceiling is not a great option, so I designed these to use command strips.

I also used a bit of weather-stripping to pad them. There is an image of a cut piece I used to fit into the space where the leading edge of the wing goes. There's also an image of the type & brand. I used ½" x ½" high density stripping.

These are 20lb rated command strips, and provided they are installed correctly, should hold at least half of that. If you have doubts, either use more strips, or I can upload a screw version.

Cosmetically & structurally, I used these printing settings:

  • 0 top & bottom layers
  • 30% honeycomb infill
  • 4 perimeters
  • 0.3mm layer height

The lowest point where the leading edge goes is about 95mm away from the wall, but this design can always be stretched to accommodate larger planes.
