How do I get the money once it's inside the jar? 

In order to get the money, you simply twist the bottom plug, breaking it open. 

From a design standpoint, having this manual step acts as a barrier just enough to avoid sabotaging the money saving, avoiding situations where one might be tempted to retrieve some of the money, breaking the savings streak.
