This device indicates whether the dishes in the dishwasher are clean or dirty. The device has a tag with word "Clean". If it is visible, the dishes are clean. If it is not, the dishes are dirty. This is intended to work together with home automation systems. I use Home Assistant. In my case my Home Assistant system track power consumption of the dishwasher. When the power consumptions becomes less than a threshold for certain time, the systems sends a Bluetooth signal to SwitchBot button pusher (which is part of this device). As the result, the "Clean" tag is popped out. The only thing that has to be done manually is to push the tag back before loading the dirty dishes. My dishwasher has an LED that lights when the wash cycle is done, but the problem is that once I open the door, the LED turns off. After that the status of the dishes inside could not be figured out by that LED. My devise solves this problem.

Assembly

The following items are needed in addition to the three 3d-printed parts:

  • SwitchBot button pusher.
  • 4 M3 inserts (to be melted into the 4 holes of the front part).
  • 4 M3 bolts 8-12 mm long.
  • (preferably) U-shaped spring from a winding mechanism (e.g. harvested from an old toy) or, alternatively, springs from a pen with a chunk of a nail to prevent them from bending.
  • Colored silicone caulk to fill into the "Clean" word (must be different color from the plastic).
