This is a modular light panels system I designed during the past month, inspired by the LumiHex project by Smart Solutions for Home. Each tile is 18cm tall, assembled with removable clamps and hanging on the wall with hidden keyholes.
The goals of this project were:
slick design with rounded corners
cheap (it turned out more expansive than expected due to acrylic panels cost)
controlled with WLED
modular
extensible (this version comes with shelves)
Beside 3D printed parts, here is an overview of the required hardware:
LED strips of your choice (ex WS2805)
MCU of your choice (ex ESP8266)
a number of a small custom PCB (gerber file provided)
frosted acrylic panels (DXF file provided)
angled 2.54mm pin headers + straight 2.54 male pins
M3 brass inserts and screws
GX12 or DC jack connector
optional buck converter
push button
power supply
It cost me ~150€ to produce 10 tiles, half of that being the production of acrylic panels.
