Embroidery Floss Organizers for IKEA Alex Drawers

These floss organizers are designed to fit into the wide, 6-drawer Alex drawers from IKEA. Each cubby will fit 2 full bobbins with a little room to spare for storing leftover working strands on their own bobbin. 

I designed these specifically to work with a 0.6mm nozzle using 0.42mm layer height and 0.72 line width. The bottom is 3 layers and the walls are 2 lines thick. Each organizer is 200 x 150mm, and 6 organizers are needed for each drawer. The full 6-strand, solid floss collection from DMC will require 3 drawers. Back spacers are to keep the organizers from sliding around when opening and closing the drawers.

STEP files are included for anyone who would like to tweak these to your needs.

Print details:

• Printer: Ender 3 v2
• Material: PETG (I had this on hand, but you could use PLA as well)
• Layer height: 0.42mm
• Line width: 0.72mm
• Infill: 0% (no infill, entire thing is just walls)

Update 5/30/2022: I've added a filament saver version of the organizer. This filament saver design has no bottom and only partial walls to save on filament. Note that I have never attempted to print this version, so cannot vouch for how well it prints.
