Description

This is a DIY enclosure designed to be used as a 45 disk JBOD to add to a NAS. It is rack mountable and is built from 3d printed and sheet metal parts.

For general information on part sourcing and how to assemble things, refer to this GitHub documentation page and the YouTube video.

Making the parts:

  • The STLs are 3d printed parts

    • Recommendations

      • 0.4mm fixed extrusion width

      • ASA

      • 40%+ Gyroid infill for the disk retainer. Other parts don't matter.

      • Print to be dimensionally accurate (e.g. I upscale all parts by 100.5% in X/Y for printing in ASA)

    • Note that some of these are very large and require a printer the size of a Prusa XL to print.

  • The ".step" / ".dxf" files are sheet metal parts (make with a service like SendCutSend or Xometry)

The majority of the screws are M3 x 6mm and M4 x 6mm.
