Here is another silencer for the Centaury Carbon 3D printer. In reality, the printer is not very noisy, but I decided to join this “anti-noise campaign” for the Centaury Carbon anyway 😊.

It is a fantastic 3D printer, and this is just a small improvement.

You don't need to disassemble anything of the printer, the silencer is fixed to the printer using three magnets. The pins are used to block and keep it in the correct position (see the pictures for assembly instructions).

Hardware needed

6 self-tapping screws Ø3.5 × 12 mm, pan head (Ø4 × 12 mm screws can also be used, but please check or adjust the holes before mounting)
3 magnets Ø10x2
Sound-absorbing material

Important You must add sound-absorbing material inside the silencer, in the areas shown in the pictures. I used the protective foam found in the printer’s original transport box, but any soft sound-absorbing material will work.

Result When all the printer fans are running (this is when the printer is really noisy), the silencer reduces the noise by about 4.1 dB. Because the dB scale is logarithmic, this means that, on a logarithmic scale, the sound pressure/power halves every 3 dB, even if the number looks small 4.1 dB is more then the half. Ecco un altro silenziatore per la Centaury Carbon. In realtà la stampante non è particolarmente rumorosa, ma ho deciso comunque di partecipare a questa “campagna antirumore” per la Centaury Carbon 😊.

È una stampante 3D fantastica, e questo è solo un piccolo miglioramento.

Non dovete smontare nulla, il silenziatore è fissato alla stampante tramite tre magneti. I perni (pins) servono per bloccarlo e mantenerlo nella posizione corretta (vedi le immagini per le istruzioni di montaggio).

Componenti necessari

6 viti autofilettanti Ø3,5 × 12 mm, testa cilindrica (è possibile usare anche viti Ø4 × 12 mm, ma si consiglia di verificare o regolare i fori prima del montaggio)
3 magneti Ø10x2
Materiale fonoassorbente

Importante È necessario inserire materiale fonoassorbente all’interno del silenziatore, nelle zone indicate nelle immagini. Io ho utilizzato il materiale di protezione presente nella scatola di trasporto originale della stampante, ma va bene qualsiasi materiale morbido fonoassorbente.

Risultato Quando tutte le ventole della stampante sono in funzione (ed è in questo caso che la stampante risulta più rumorosa), il silenziatore consente una riduzione del rumore di circa 4,1 dB. Poiché la scala dei decibel è logaritmica, questo significa che ogni 3 dB la pressione sonora si dimezza, quindi, il rumore viene ridotto di oltre la metà (4.1 dB), anche se il valore numerico può sembrare contenuto.
