Up until now, I've always used filament clips that attach to the spool frame. The advantage was that I could stick a label on them to see what kind of filament was on the spool. In the meantime I have several filament dryers, and the disadvantage is that the clips get in the way when you need to turn the spool. Another problem was, that I printed them in PLA, which wasn't suitable for the dryer's temperatures.
I couldn't find any clips that met my requirements, so I designed my own one.
They should:
• Be attachable to the spool (directly on the filament)
• Be labelable with 9mm or 12mm labels from my Brother P-Touch
• Be able to be hung on the hooks of the IKEA Skadis shelf
• Be heat-resistant enough for the dryer
• Be easy and quick to print with minimal material
Here's what I came up with.
I print them with a 0.2mm layer height using ASA. Twelve pieces can be made in about 40 minutes with a Bambu Lab X1C and require approximately 15 grams of filament.
If you have a suitable printer, you can of course also print the text directly onto the filament clip (sample picture enclosed).
Update Version 2.0
I made a few improvements:
- added a color tag in order not only to see type but also color of the filament
- length of the hook increased (suitable for filament clip and color tag)
- For the color tags I added a long hook for the IKEA Skadis board and a plate for 21 color Tags. The hook saves space on the board, while the plate provides a better overview of available colors.
The back plate original file is from @Rod_21807 and can be found here:
It needs to be glued to the color Tag plate.
