The bearings on the original fans of my reference RX6800XT started to grind. So I designed a few very simple rails that can be used to attach two 120 mm fans to the card. I first used the card in a Dan Case A4 H2O, which is why they are as narrow as possible and the fans are only attached to their lower mounting holes and clamped onto the card's cooling block.
The holes fit M3x5.7x4.6mm press-in threads. For the best possible fit, first tighten all eight screws and leave a little play. Then press both rails against the cooling block and tighten the screws completely.
Please note: Unfortunately, the original cooling block does not have any threads for screws that could be reused. The rails should hold firmly, but they are only clamped! So far, I have only used the rails in a vertical and inverted position. If you want to use the rails in a “traditional” layout, please make sure that they hold well enough and secure them again with heat-resistant double-sided tape, which you can attach to the sides of the cooling block.
The rails are very simple, and there are certainly much better options out there. I'm happy to see any cool remixes of my model. Get creative!
