The Badge Holder Double combines two printed badge holders together with tight clips that clamp securely.

Retractor cover pieces are designed for these 40mm metal wire retractors:

The badge size is approximately 86.80 x 55.20 x 2mm - it should accomodate badge sizes of anything close to this size.

Print settings

Please note: If your Flow Rate and Pressure Advance is not calibrated well, you will struggle to make this model accurately and assemble it. There are very tight tolerances for these pieces in order to make it strong and durable.

Due to the bending action required in several parts of the Badge holder, clips, and retractor cover pieces, I HIGHLY recommend PETG or PLA+ as a material. In my testing, plain PLA and PLA Matte worked fine with highly tuned printer settings (nozzle >=220C), but PLA Silk breaks very easily. If you MUST use silk PLA, crank your heat to ensure a powerful layer bond and be VERY gentle with assembly.

Layer bonding is a highly critical point of failure on the clips that combine the two badge holders together since they are printed horizontally. If you are concerned about having weak layer bonds or are using PLA, you may print the clips standing upright for a better layer line orientation. This will improve the layer bond due to layer line orientation, but will massively increase print time, print difficulty, and potentially mess with clip tolerances.

All parts are designed to print as oriented in the Assembled Plate folder with no supports.

Assembly

Print:

1x Badge holder main - side 1

1x Badge holder main - side 2

1x Bottom clip

1x Top clip

Place the bottom clip on both badge holder sides as shown above.

Fold both badge holder sides together.

Place your Top clip into position gently at first.

Use your thumb to forcefully push the clip down on one end first.

Repeat with the other end of the clip.

Assembled. Check for layer splits on the top clip just in case, but with PETG or PLA+ this will rarely occur when printed properly.

The Retractor Cover

Print:

1x Cover piece (Main colour)

1x Coin (Secondary colour)

The coin goes under the cover piece to provide a secondary colour. It is not necessary.

The Cover Pieces pushes onto the retractor and is also a high risk for layer line splitting due to the layer orientation. This one can not be worked around, so be gentle when pushing it on (or gently heat your plastic part first to allow some flexibility).

The flower cover + a white coin base.

I also highly recommend using a small amount of glue to keep this part secured to the retractor, because it is a small risk of coming loose otherwise. It is not absolutely necessary though.

There is also an included Chain Link if you so desire.
