I recently repaired a Technics SA-400 receiver and, in the process, converted the lighting to LEDs. Since suitable BA9S LED bulbs are quite expensive (at least in my country) and installation in the spring-loaded sockets is very fiddly, I simply made a few new holders that accommodate the more common E10 socket. To convert, simply remove the original brackets and attach the new ones to the metal tabs.
The holders should definitely fit the larger SA-500, and they may also fit other models. You can get an idea from the photos.
Please note that the original lamps operate on alternating current. Therefore, when converting to LED replacement bulbs, a small bridge rectifier should also be connected in front of the LEDs. I used a DBL207G.
