During build of a remote RC-car I overcame the necessity to re-design different wheels.
So I took TinkerCad and made a rim and tire. Rim consists of the rim part itself and a adequate decoration plate. Rim_Main and Rim_Decorate are two parts which you should drag on your build plate together. Then you may be able to select different colors.
I used two colors (PETG) and one more filament (PVA) for the interface-layer after normal support. You can also use PLA as separator. Works fine, what they say.
Rim has four indents for a better traction, not loosing the tire (TPU). Further in the progress I guess I need to apply some glue for best adhesion rim to tire. I will experience this.
As a template I oriented the design to anothe rim here on printables. But as the spokes were bent I decided to design m own, with even spokes. Which makes the print much easier, and likely nice. Supports come off much easier.
The tire was printed with 70Sh(A) TPU. The tire has 3mm less diameter than the rim, so this is a nice tight seat. You may wanna play with X- and Y in a certain percentage to get it tougher if need be. Harder TPU has for sure less friction, if you need this or only can print this. In this case a wider diameter (X+Y) of tire may be adjusted. Mind not to change Z-dimension.
Those motors (see photographs) are available in tonns for very little money from Amazon, AliExpress, Banggood, etc. etc. Their axle with flat zones fit perfectly on the rims. They fit tight, but nice. Therefore, I used PETG for the rims.
Have fun with this solution, happy printing!
