🔧 Required Hardware

  1. RAK WisBlock Mini Meshtastic Starter Kit (US915)

    • Must be the Mini Starter Kit with RAK19003 Base

    • Amazon Link

  2. LiPo Battery (3.7V 2000mAh 103450)

  3. M3x8mm Screws (6 required)

  4. MagSafe Magnets (ONLY for MagSafe version)

    • Flutesan Magnet Sticker Circle

    • You will need 2 magnets stacked together for strong hold

⚠ CRITICAL: Battery Polarity Warning

If you buy the battery linked above (or any third-party battery), you MUST flip the polarity on the JST connector before connecting it to the RAK board.

The red and black wires need to be swapped on the plastic JST connector to match the RAK board's pinout. Connecting with wrong polarity can damage your board!

Note: Batteries sold specifically for Meshtastic/MeshCore devices from official sources typically have correct polarity and can be connected directly.

📁 Included Files

To build this enclosure, you need to print one base and one cover. The battery holder is included with the base print files.

Use these if you want to slice the models yourself with your own settings.

Description

Cover.stl

Top cover for the enclosure. Print standing upright with the large circular opening on the build plate for best surface quality.

Base - Magsafe.stl

Base with MagSafe magnet pocket. Add a print pause to insert magnets. Use supports on build plate only.

Base - No Magsafe.stl

Base without MagSafe—just print flat on the build plate, no special steps needed.

Battery Holder.stl

Internal battery retention bracket. Rotate 90° so the long axis is perpendicular to the print bed—this ensures layer lines run the correct direction for strength.

Print Files (Pre-configured for Prusa CORE One)

Each print file is available in two formats:

  • .3mf — Project file you can open in PrusaSlicer to review or modify settings for your printer

  • .bgcode — Ready to print directly on a Prusa CORE One (or compatible printer) with no changes needed

Cover - Transparent - PETG

Transparent cover in PETG. Filament: Elegoo Transparent PETG. Prints slowly but gives a near-transparent finish. Important: Make sure your transparent PETG is well-dried before printing or you won't achieve good clarity.

🧲 MagSafe Magnet Installation

When using the MagSafe base print files, the print will automatically pause at the right layer for magnet insertion. If slicing the STL yourself, add a manual pause at the layer just before the magnet pocket closes.

  1. When the print pauses, insert 2 magnets stacked together into the pocket

  2. Important: The side that sticks to your iPhone must face DOWN on the print bed. Test orientation with your phone before placing!

  3. Resume the print to seal the magnets inside

🔩 Assembly

  1. Flash your RAK WisBlock with Meshtastic or MeshCore firmware

  2. Connect the battery (after fixing polarity if needed!)

  3. Place battery in the base with the battery holder with 2× M3x8 screws

  4. Seat the RAK board in the enclosure

  5. Screw in the RAK board with the included screws

  6. Attach the antennas and route the cables as shown in the images

  7. Attach the cover using 4× M3x8mm screws

  8. Slap it on the back of your phone and enjoy off-grid comms!
