This is a standoff / riser designed to fit standard construction 2×4 lumber, intended to raise a shelf or simple structure by 38 mm without permanent modification.

The base measures 46 × 97 mm, with a 40 × 91 mm internal pocket sized to locate a 2×4 cleanly and keep it from shifting. The solid outer walls provide stability, while the recessed interior makes placement quick and repeatable.

This version is not stackable and is meant to be used as a single-height riser under each shelf support. It was designed and printed in PETG, which provides a good balance of strength and durability for light furniture and workshop use. Other materials may work depending on load and print settings, but have not been tested.

Key details

  • Raises shelf height by 38 mm

  • Fits standard construction 2×4 lumber

  • Base size: 46 × 97 mm

  • Internal pocket: 40 × 91 mm

  • Non-stackable by design

  • No hardware, no threads

Print notes

  • Printed successfully in PETG

  • Prints without supports

  • Recommend gyroid infill for near-uniform strength in all directions (isotropic)

This was designed as a practical, real-world solution, but it’s useful anywhere you need a clean, simple way to raise a 2×4-based shelf or structure slightly. In my case, I bought a new server cabinet and it was about 1.5" too tall to fit under a shelf I had built that used 2x4s for legs.
