Helicopter Mi-8, Mi24 Collective

This design is inspired by the Mi-8, Mi-24, Mi-35 collective. It fits onto a Virpil/Thurstmaster (Warthog/Cougar) base.

I haven't printed this last version of the part with all the switches, yet. Please share your results if you print it.

This collective grip has:

  • 3x axis
  • 1x 4-way hat switch
  • 4x press-buttons

Print:

  • Printed in PLA
  • The grip and brake pad are printed in TPU

Materials:

  • 1x rotary potentiometer
  • 1x joystick module 5-pin KY 23 PS2 without the circuit board (Arduino UNO starter kit for instance).
  • 3x press switch (hole diameter is 16mm)
  • 4x mini press buttons (6x6x4.3 momentary button)
  • Arduino Pro Micro or Leo Bodnar
  • 160mm metal pipe (outer diameter 6mm, inner diameter 5mm)
  • 180mm threaded rod (outer diameter 5mm)
  • 1x M5 nut
  • 2x M3 nuts
  • 6x M3x16mm bolts
  • 1x M3 x10mm bolt + nut
  • 16x 6mm diameter ball bearing

Notes: 

  • 3D-printed plastic isn't as resilient as the grip.
    If you can make the structural parts out of resin: do. If it's not an option: use PLA or better, choose at least 90% infill and print the parts with an angle (potential crack to filament layer). Adapt the joystick response curves so you don't yank your stick like a mad man. Then it'll be fine.
