If you've ordered new nozzles, you've been impressed with the boxes that Qidi ships them in :) This insert sits in these boxes and gives room for nine nozzles. Why print a whole box when theirs is so good?!
The insert has been designed to use very little filament (<10g) and to be printable without supports. It doesn't contact the copper area on the nozzle, so it won't wipe away the thermal transfer paste. It has convenient funnel-shaped holes so it's easy to insert the nozzles.
The lack of supports is made possible by three built-in feature types, shown in the images. It should print like magic without any fuss or alteration. Make sure you print it on the specific side shown in the images! :)
I've printed these in PLA with a 0.4mm nozzle, at both 0.2mm and 0.16mm layer heights. They both work well, but I preferred the cleaner hole tapers that result from 0.16mm.
If you are interested: the yellow circles show teardrop shapes to support the underside of the holes. There are chamfers (marked by purple rectangles) supporting upper wall edges. The orange triangles show webbing used to support two of the rails.
Oh, I also added an STL that has the design without all the "no-support" features. It will be more difficult to print, but it has nice symmetry! To each their own!
I hope you like them! Here are the other items I'm using in my print setup. I'll be adding more as I go :)
Please note: These need an external box to work well. The holes on the bottom of the rack are open, with the bottoms of the nozzles resting on the external box. If you would like a rack with a solid layer on the bottom, just let me know and I'll add a model :)
The author marked this model as their own original creation.
