Sliding Glass Cabinet Catch - Moody Boats

I designed these catches to replace the ones originally fitted to many Moody yachts.  The catches are fitted to the sliding "glass" doors of the galley and heads cabinets.

No supplier of the OEM catches has been found so I created this design to meet the requirements of several Moody owners including myself.

The catch fits into a 20mm hole (the OEM was probably a generous 3/4") and is secured by its M20 x 1.5 ring nut.

I printed these in PETG with 0.15 mm layer height - orientation is as shown in the "set of four" file.  The only support required is in the spring cavity of the main body.  No support is required on the threads or for the other components.  The small M5 nut may require a tap run through to clean the thread.  The male thread on the button is long enough to allow it to be locked by a touch with a soldering iron or maker's tool when the optimum projection has been established.

The catch requires a compression spring.  It will accept a range of spring diameters and rates but the one nearest resembling the OEM spring can be found on the link below.  This is a "light" spring which operates the catch adequately whilst minimising friction on the acrylic "glass".
