For some time I’m proud owner of a creality Space Pi plus, primarily used for drying PETG.

After having upgraded my Bambu Lab AMS with the Sunlu AMS heater for that purpose, my intention was to print directly out of the Creality Pi with my old Anycubic Vyper. The challenge was to overcome the high friction from the original spool holder. I started to design my own spool holder.

All you need (beside the printed parts) is a M8 threaded rod (same length as the original Creality rod) and two inline skates roller bearings (Z608; ID=8mm; OD=22mm).

I have added two version of the holder. A 90° (top mount) version and a solution under an angle of 45°. The 45° version is recommended if you have the front side desiccant tray mounted. If you use the 90° version it is necessary to assemble spool and bracket outside of the dryer because it is not enough space to leave the bracket mounted and only insert the spool. The 45° version allows to put in the spool while the brackets are still in place.

The entire design uses 2 threads, M8x1,25 for the nuts at the end of the rod and M45x4,5 for the center shaft. I gave both a bit more tolerance (0,03mm for M8 and 0,15mm for M45). That was fine for me, got a strong fit on the M8 thread and a loose fit on the M45 thread, but other printers might require different tolerances.

I have printed on a Bambu Lab X1C in PLA and ASA. PLA for test prints and ASA for final version. Neither brim nor support is needed. I have used 0,12mm layers for the smaller parts and 0,2mm for the larger parts, 30% infill, 4 walls.

The design is suitable for spools with a inner diameter of 55mm (like Sunlu or Bambu Labs). It is possible to easily adapt to a larger diameter. It just needs two spacer rings with an inner diameter of 55mm and the outer diameter you need.

The maximum spool outer diameter is approx. 200mm due to the limitation of the Creality Space Pi internal geometry. Maximum spool width is approx. 70mm almost the same as the original design has.

Please let me know if you need any changes or have suggestions for improvements.
