Attempted to improve the 29th century Relativity tricorder model. I was motivated by the constant breaking of the original version's lid which led me to making some upgrades for durability and appearance. The new version of the lid works great and closes nicely.
Updated parts:
Lid- Improved the lid (A) to print sideways for a much sturdier build. Had to sacrifice the thin little side grips but the better printing makes it worthwhile. The original with the side grips is included (B) but will need ample supports. Also evened out the main surfaces for better consistency.
Body - Improved printing of the main body by splitting it into two parts so they can both be printed at optimal angles. Body 2 (the bottom end) can be printed sideways so it has a smooth round shape plus matches the lid's print orientation for an excellent look. Uses a connector to bring both body parts together. Hinge covers should fit snuggly so you shouldn't need to glue them, but of course glue as necessary.
Scanner - Smoothed the scanner part and redid the slot for it on the body 1 to fit better.
Lights - Added tiny little square inserts for the holes above the main display.
Improved display stand - Simplified the adjustable stand to be able to show to the tricorder in open and closed positions but with less parts and materials.
New custom holster added.
Graphics have been updated as scalable vector shapes which should make it easier to customize colors and print with higher definition.
The author marked this model as their own original creation.
