We often travel with our parrot and have recently bought a new cage for him.
I decided to create a set of seat belt fasteners to secure the cage on the back seat of the car.
It will hopefully prevent the cage from travel across the cabin in case of an accident.
Will match cages from FOP - The Alvea and Ivonne models.
Fasten:
Pull the seat belt through the "eye" piece and fasten it. Slide the lower and upper part of the belt through the slot in each fastener on the cage.
Release:
First release the seat belt and let it back through the "eye". Slice the remaining belt out of the two slots.
Notes:
Fusion 365 file "f3d" is included with the grabbers for the bars in a separate component to easily modify them to other cages.
The cage is supposed to go in the left side of the car. "Seat belt hook" will have to be mirrored if the cage is to be placed on the right side.
There is a lock pin to keep the fasteners in place. The tolerance for the lock pin is 0.15 mm and can be changed in "Parameters".
Lock pin will need to be turned counter-clockwise for the mirrored parts.
Print info:
I have decided to print with 5 vertical shells and 6 top/bottom layers in PET-G or nylon.
⚠ Don't use carbon fiber - those tiny fibers should not come near your bird!
After some physical stress testing I'm convinced that it will hold the cage in place.
Supports are important!
Everything is printed with supports on the plate and object because there are some 90 degree overhangs. It will take 5 minutes to remove with pliers and a small flathead screwdriver.
The author marked this model as their own original creation.
