PROJECT BACKGROUND
This is a threaded lid insert for anyone using 4 L plastic cereal containers to store filament in the upright position.
Most cereal-box dry box designs are built to feed filament directly to a printer, which means flipping the container upside down. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with those designs — but in my case, I’m simply storing filament, not feeding printers from the box.
This insert replaces the original hinged lid with a clean, low-profile threaded desiccant holder that keeps moisture under control while allowing the container to remain upright on a shelf.
DESIGN DETAILS
Fits a round 60 mm opening with the existing gasket left in place
Holds approximately 1/8 cup of desiccant beads
Original hinged lid is removed and replaced by this insert
Two-piece threaded design locks securely into place
The existing gasket provides the airtight seal — no extra parts needed
