When last year's Christmas tree arrived, it had quite a few spiders living among its branches. So, for this year, I decided to go all in on that theme and create a fitting ornament for this year's tree. Maybe the spiders will like it, too.

The ornament comes in three versions. There is one with Santa hats and one without. I created a hollow and a filled version of both of these. Use whatever fits you needs / printer/slicer requirements best. :-)

This ornament was originally intended for Christmas, but the version without hats fits gothic, Halloween, fantasy and related themes just as well.

Painting the Ornament

The ornament was painted in three stages. After priming, I used an airbrush to apply a silver layer. I then turned the silver into gold and red by adding a single layer of yellow and red Speedpaint. The eyes and hats were painted using regular acrylic model colours. To protect the surface, boost saturation and achieve a glossy finish, I added an additional layer of gloss varnish at the end.
