So, bought a new camera and found that the battery only lasts for about 600 shots or so before it's depleted. However the camera will shoot while hooked up to a external USB Battery pack.
Since I have a tripod quick release on the bottom of my camera most days I whipped up a quick block that would allow me to bungie a USB power bank on the bottom of the camera and snap that on to the existing quick release plate that's already there so that I don't have to juggle both the camera and the battery pack.
The specific quick release plat that I have is a Velbon QB-157 that came with the Sherpa 200R tripod that I use.
To hold the battery on I just used some hair ties borrowed from the wife, but rubber bands or other ties would work just as well. I found that just the two that loop around seems to hold things well enough but I added hooks for a third that could it from side to side and keep it from just slipping out.
There's a gap in the plate so that you can still remove the thing with the quick release plate if needed,
