When searching for a spiral cable protector that I could adapt for use on a Unitree GO1 robot to protect repaired/soldered cables to the motors of one leg, I came up empty.
So here's an OpenSCAD based version that conveniently allows specifying the vertical height of the solid plastic strip and the vertical height of the empty space between spirals, as well as length, inner diameter and wall thickness. This was generated primarily using prompting with Gemini 3 Pro. Allows very easy generation of a wide variety of spirals.
I used PETG (0.6mm line width with 0.4mm nozzle) and recommend manually added tree support when going over certain lengths (in my case 5 cm), as otherwise the spiral will being to flop at some point and print would fail.
