The Fiat G.91 was an Italian lightweight jet fighter and reconnaissance aircraft developed in the 1950s. Designed by engineer Giuseppe Gabrielli, it won a NATO competition for a standard light tactical support aircraft. Compact, agile, and economical, the G.91 served with the air forces of Italy, Germany, and Portugal. It proved reliable in both training and operational roles, including use in Portugal’s colonial conflicts in Africa. Although eventually replaced by more modern jets, the Fiat G.91 remains an important milestone in European military aviation history.
