This design, while not without its imperfections, was the result of a rapid, collaborative effort, completed in approximately 30 minutes, and was necessitated by the failure of the existing crank wheel. The components utilized include 3/8-16 x 2-1/2 inch stainless steel bolts with 3/8-16 stainless steel nylon lock nuts for the hand crank handle. During the installation of the 2-1/2 inch bolt, it was necessary to apply heat to facilitate thread cutting within the receiving hole. This process should be repeated as needed to ensure proper thread engagement and to countersink the bolt head approximately 5 millimeters into the plastic. For securing the assembly to the shaft, an M6 bolt, 1 inch in length, was employed. It has been observed that some rubbing occurs on one of the M6 bolts near the shaft after repeated vertical movement, resulting in minor wear on the filament. The filament used is nylon, and while not yet fully tested, it appears to be a promising and effective material.
