Steampunk Gear Bookholder – Precision Remix (Screw-Mounted Gears)

This is an upgraded and more precise remix of the Steampunk Bookends – Customisable Dynamic Gearset.
The original design is visually impressive and highly creative, but the moving gear mechanics can benefit from additional refinement.
This remix focuses on improved alignment, stronger connections, smoother motion and reversible mounting, while maintaining full compatibility with the original model.

Upgrades in this Remix

✔ Redesigned gear holder

The gear mounting system has been completely rebuilt to provide better alignment and smoother movement.

✔ More precise gear spacing

All gear distances were adjusted to reduce friction and improve rotation consistency.

✔ Screw-based connection (replaces clip system)

The original clip holders have been replaced with a durable screw-mounted mechanism.
Three visually different screw designs are included, all stronger and easier to reinstall.

✔ Reversible frame design

The frame can be used on either side.
Simply add the washers supplied during assembly.

✔ Fully compatible with the original

All gears from the original model can still be used, and the main frame fits exactly as before.

Printing Recommendations

Material: PLA

Layer Height: 0.2 mm

Infill: 15–25%

Perimeters: 3–4 (recommended for screw strength)

Supports: None required

Print screws slowly for clean threads.

Assembly

Print any of the three screw styles and the washers.

Insert the original gears into the redesigned frame.

Secure them using the screw design you prefer.

Add washers if using the frame reversed.

Instead of the original clip-based holders, this version uses a screw-mounted system.
Three screw types were created, offering stronger connections and different visual styles.

The frame can now be used on both sides — simply add the included washers to compensate for the opposite mounting position.

All original gears and the original main frame remain fully compatible with this remix.
