This is a replacement cable holder for the Valve Index. It replaces the left side cable retention if yours is broken off.
I had several goals with this repair:
1. Trap the cable stopper so that it won't slide out either direction
2. Avoid using any permanent glue (in case you need to replace the cable again in the future)
3. Hold the cable stopper close to the original position, so that the cable will flex in the same way as with the original cable retention
4. Be somewhat slim and stay out of the way (it will only bump the speaker if you try)
Printing Tips
- Simply print the 2 parts as shown in the slicer screenshot (main body standing up, lid flat)
- I did 0.1 for a good quality and to help with the precise fit
- Use supports on the main body, organic and 0.17 top contact worked well for me
- Only use supports on the lid for the screw holes (I know I could do the bridging trick but I'm lazy)
Assembly Tips
- Insert the 2 hex nuts first and test close with the M3x6 screws to seat the nuts fully
- Open back up and slot the cable in, then apply the double sided tape where it will contact the headset arm
- Stick on the main body lined up with the end of the arm, then snap on the lid and tighten the screws
