Designed a 5kg spool holder so that i could go longer without swapping to a new roll.
Included axle uses 4 3d printed 608 bearings/ bb gun bbs, you could probably just use 2 if using actual bearings.
You will need a short length of threaded rod and nylock lock nuts. Tighten nuts up until the spool starts to slow from the drag when spinning by hand. I am on my 3rd 5kg spool now with no issues. Don't forget to use some variety of filament scrubber, sponge, cloth, anything to keep dust from pulling in.
Designed to print without supports if oriented properly.
I printed mine in Petg 5walls, alternating walls, and 15% infill. 0.4 tip and .12 layer height.
The screws don't need to be tight, just thread in flush and stop.
The center pivots allowing you to swap old spool with new easily.
Known useable 5kg filament spools with provided axle.
