I like to know where things go in my house, and was tired of ugly tape with hand writing on them to mark my plumbing.  They would fall off, become unreadable, and often hard to read due to small print that wrapped around the pipe.  I designed these as a simple print-in-place, clip-on tags for ½ inch (15mm) pipes to allow for ease of identification.  They fit on copper or PEX piping.

I have provided a blank template (stl) that can be downloaded and any text added to it using Tinkercad, Fusion 360, etc.  I have also uploaded a few tags that can be printed immediately.

I used PETG with a 0.4mm nozzle, at 0.2mm layer height.  A colour change at 3.2mm (first layer of writing).  I have not tried PLA as the clip part must be flexible to enable extension while clipping onto the pipe.  Also, PETG may be the better choice for the hot water lines as it has a higher heat resistance.  Each tag takes about 30 minutes to print, including colour change, depending on your print speed.

Please note that if the clip arm does not easily bend at the “pin” connection, grab the rotating part with fingers and gently wiggle it to break any fused material.  I have made dozens of these tags for friends and family without breaking any.

Please feel free to remix this design to fit on other sizes of pipes.  I just have not gotten around to it yet :D
