Vertical 2.5 SSD mount in 5.25 tray

General description

Desined for mounting several 2.5 SSDs inside place for DVD mechanics (5.25 wide). Advantage is vertical placemnet of discs, allowing passive air circulation and lower temperatures. Clips and rail desing allows almost free positing of disks.

Main frame can be printed on one piece or with separate sides (for me was easier to print it in parts). Optionally heat inserts can be used in sides, so no counternuts are needed. Then SSD clips with mounted discs can be clipped on main frame, making whole frame more sturdy. Versions: v2 - main frame + sides, v3 - essentialy v2 with wider rails for clips.

Assambly

In version with sides of main plate printed separatly, (heat) insert counter nuts in main frame and attach sides with screws. Optionally set heatinserts in sides.

Attach SSD to clips and then clip them on main frame.

Printed from black ABS-T, any decently heat-resistant filament will work, such as regular ABS, (PETG)…
