This preliminary collection of modular XRP-compatible robotics frame components allow creators to assemble an unlimited variety of devices, from chassis to arms to you-name-it.  This is just the beginning – what is provided here is a useful starting point, sure to grow considerably over time.

The XBS building system, of which this is a part, is provided open-source by Experiential, Inc, a not-for-profit company located in Manchester, NH.  In the near future we will provide an accompanying XBS Design Guide, containing standards for third-party developers to design additions to, or modifications of, these parts.  We encourage all to help us build a library of shareable parts.

STEP files for all of these parts are available upon request.  These parts are fully compatible with the current XRP frame, you can now easily add structures to your “legacy” robot.

We hope you enjoy this new capability, and we welcome your feedback.  Please feel free to reach out to [email protected] with input, comments and suggestions.

Important notes for those who plan to make these parts:

  1. You will have best results (fit, strength, etc.) with a well-adjusted 3d printer, paying careful attention to avoiding “elephant foot”, and under- or over-extrusion.
  2. Many of the parts will need support structures when printing.  “Tree” support is strongly preferred.
  3. When printing, choose orientations that put structural features parallel to the bed, or the closest possible approximation.  A good example of this is the “Top Gusset” which must be printed standing up on the bed, otherwise the little clips will break when you try to insert them into a pair of rails.
  4. For best results, the “Hub” part should be printed standing on one of its corners on the bed.
  5. PLA is the material of choice.  Draft mode printing is fine, with 15% infill.

Revisions:

10/21/2025: Added one-sided Anywhere T.  This allows placement on the vintage XRP frame without interfering with the wheels.
