Print with or without a handle: the handle improves ease of use, but the gear can also be spun from the side. Assembly layouts are show below for printable files
File: “Thread Twister - 2 Threads No Handle”
Print File: “Thread Twister - 2 Threads With Handle”
3+ Threads
Option 1: “Thread Twister - 2 Threads” + “Middle Sets - Option 1” times x
Total Number of threads = 2 + n*x
Where n = number of addition of threads
Option 2: Using a large gear system, you can add as many as you want to each side (fits up to 4 segments).
Assembly Instructions
Snap the bottom and top sections together to form the upper assembly. Ensure the slight slant on the sides all face the same direction.
Insert the gears, alternating between Gear Cross and Gear Flat. Note: All threads must twist in the same direction — alternating the flat and cross gears ensures this alignment.
Attach the top assembly to the bottom section. The easiest method is to wedge one side in first, then snap the other side into place. You may need to gently flex the walls to secure the fit.
Use Instructions
Tie a small loop at each end of your threads. Do not tie the threads together yet.
Hook each loop onto a separate hook.
Once all threads are hooked, apply gentle tension and then tie the loose ends together. Begin turning the gears to twist the threads. Continue twisting until the strands begin to bunch slightly.
Twist the top of the threads by hand to start the spinning process — when released, the threads should stay twisted together.
Carefully remove the finished thread from the hooks.
