I wanted a small tray to fit on the end of our camp chair - something that would hold a plate or a coffee cup. Our current chairs (GCI Outdoor Kickback Rocker) has a bottle/can holder built into the arm rest, like many camp chairs do, but you can't put a coffee cup in it, or hold a plate. This fits over the end of the arm, and has a flip-down wing that more or less levels the platform out. It's made in 3 parts - the tray itself, the wing, and the handle for a bolt head. I use a standard 1/4"x20 1.5" steel bolt to tighten down the wing - I could have also printed the bolt, but if a plastic bolt ever broke off inside the wing, you'd have to print a new wing. With the metal bolt, that should not happen. The inside of the wing is threaded, but I found that chasing it with a tap cleaned up the threads and made it work smoothly. If you don't have a tap, then you must not be an engineer - but aside from that, if you don't want to use a tap, then you can probably slightly expand the wing to loosen up the threads a little. Also, I printed this in a vertical orientation. I had no problems with the tray itself, but the wing fell over. After that print, I added some small support tabs that can be cut off - they are only there to keep the wing from falling over as the build progresses. This seems to work well, although I made a few small tweaks to the model after printing it (e.g., the support tabs), that I have not tried out. I also plan to add a thin neoprene pad to the surface to make this a bit less prone to have a plate slide off the slippery PLA surface. TBD if that will work, but I think it will.
