Daysaver Essential8 Boot

The Daysaver Essential8 multitool is a pretty slick bit of kit! I didn't buy their Hug tool sleeve when I purchased the tool, but I quickly realized I did, in fact, want to cover the hard corners to reduce the risk that the tool abraded my tubes in my seat pack.

Here's a vase mode TPU boot! The same part works for either end of the tool. You should print 2 boots if you want to cover both bits.

I've attached a .3MF with my vase settings in Bambustudio. I've been printing these in BambuLab's “TPU for AMS”, which has a Shore hardness of 68D. I bet it would work in other flexible filaments as well, but you'd probably need to tune the stiffness of the print by varying wall thickness or nominal interference.

Here's some important settings:

• Spiral vase ON
• At least 1 bottom layer to make the solid ‘end cap’ face
  • I tried 1 x 0.42 mm bottom layer, and it was only ok. Kinda poor extrusion quality and some gaps in the fill.
  • 2 x 0.3 mm bottom layers seems to work better.
• Print mode: by object
• I printed mine at 0.18 mm layer height since I have a 0.6 mm nozzle loaded at the moment
• I used the line width to tune the fit to be *just so*. 
  • For me, this ended up being 0.89 mm for all line widths except the first layer
  • I printed the first layer at line width = 1.0 mm
