This is a design for an arbor to hold a cupped grinding wheel in my mill or lathe. This is an example of how a 3D design can be printed to mock up design dimensions. DO NOT USE A 3D PRINTED ARBOR FOR GRINDING (or even spinning). A quick print of a design IS useful for doing a test fit before using a lathe (CNC or otherwise).

I thought about making an R8 shaft, but I may want to use this with the lathe so a 7/8" straight shaft keeps my options open. I designed the shaft diameter at 7/8" which is my largest R8 collet for my mill. This diameter will also fit inside an ER-40 collet for the lathe. The print illustrated a clearance issue 33mm inside the R8 collet, so I could shorten the shaft to 35mm instead of my original 70mm. This would save machining time and materials. Likewise, a test fit with the ER-40 collet indicates the shaft should be less than 50mm or it will have extra stickout.

This original 70mm shaft gcode was output to a lathe and 1 1/2" steel turned down to a solid concentric arbor for the grinding wheel. Still need finalize by shaft length and do the cutoff operations.
