The Java Presse is a cool little coffee grinder. Unfortunately the crank handle must be removed to add new beans which means it can be misplaced. Replacement crank handles are produced but are often out of stock. Unfortunately this was the case when I needed a replacement!
When the coffee equipment goes down it is not a matter to be taken lightly. Dimensions were measured and a model created with upmost haste. Rather than reinvent the wheel I borrowed Prusa's excellent Herringbone Planetary Gear to use as both bearing and handle for my expedient replacement.
This is, admittedly, a crude design and can certainly be improved; in my defense I was running on empty and in a hurry!
I printed mine using Glass Fiber ABS with 0.2mm Strength profile (50% infill). The bearing was printed with PETG at standard 0.2mm Fine profile.
