A parametric solar filter for telescopes written in OpenSCAD can be scaled to fit on any sized scope. I use Baader Solar Film which gives a white light image of the Sun.

Note: Do not use PLA, it will warp! Suggest printing this with a UV resistant filament such as ASA. PETG is fine but will degrade over time if exposed to excessive amounts of UV radiation.

For the filter material, use a well known brand such as Baader AstroSolar Visual Solar Filter Film (ND 5)

  1. Use double sided adhesive sheets to attach solar film
  2. The filter guard can be used as a template to cut out an adhesive ring from the sheet.
  3. Apply adhesive ring to inside of solar filter
  4. Apply and additional adhesive ring to filter guard and lay on top of solar film
  5. Trim solar film around the filter guard and attach to inside of filter enclosure.
  6. Apply felt to the inside rim to make a more snug fit
