1lb Plastic Ant
This is a 1lb Plastic Ant that was made for use in Combat Robotics. I have been developing this robot for around 2 years now. Before I retire from Robotics and the internet for 2 years, I want to post the designs so someone can carry on the legacy.
This robot has consistently ranked among the top 30 bots in the nation, placing 5th in nationals and achieving multiple podium finishes at various events. This is a dangerous robot, so please make sure you test safely and do research into how to build combat robots and safe practices with them generally. Only test the weapon when not in the room. For a test box look at what SPARC and SCAR recommends.
The entire robot is 3D printed out of Overture Super PLA Plus; other PLA+ will work too, but the robot has been designed with this material in mind. Another material that has been tested has been DURAMIC PLA+ but the robot tends to be more explody due to the material its self breaking before bending unlike Overture super PLA plus bending before breaking. This robot was not designed as a kit and may be challenging for beginners to understand and build. Don't hesitate to try modifying the design to make it easier to create and fight with.
The electronics need to be compact for everything to fit in the robot. The parts I listed are the parts I used but they can vary from what you use. The weapon motor esc doesn’t have to be that specific one but I chose that one because it has more start up torque than a blheli esc. The repeat robotics esc I listed for the weapon will need to be reprogrammed using the esc programmer that is in the list below. Instructions on how to do it is listed on the repeat robotics website. The setting that need to be set are in the images below.
