Rolodex Compatible Filament Swatches (OpenSCAD)

How do I customize this?

This is an OpenSCAD project. OpenSCAD is a script-based modeling software specifically created for projects like this that need to be customizable.

If you're new to the program, it may look strange at first, but most of the work is just typing values into a form or selecting customization options from a dropdown list. You do not need to know any programming or write a single line code to use OpenSCAD.

Once you've entered everything you need, you can export an STL file for printing. Here's a helpful video that walks through the entire process!

Fonts

Openscad can use almost any font installed on your computer!

• Select Font List from the Help menu.
• Copy the font you want into the appropriate field (remove any surrounding double quotes)

By default, the file uses the Liberation Sans font which comes with OpenScad.

Customization Options

Parts
Which parts to print: All, Card, or Spacer

Card Width
How wide the swatch is.

Card Height
How tall the swatch is.

Card Margin
How much space is between the edge of the swatch and the text (top and left edges)

Spacer Width
How wide the spacer is.

Spacer Height
How tall the spacer is.

Card Corner Radius
How rounded should the corners on the swatch and/or spacer be.

Card Hole Offset
How far from the center of the swatch should the Rolodex holes be. Measure to the center of the Rolodex holes.

Card Holes
[Checkbox] Uncheck this to completely disable Rolodex holes.

Ring Hole
[Checkbox] Check this to add a keyring hole to the swatch.

Star
[Checkbox] Check this to add a star indicator on the swatch.

Layer Height Preview
[Checkbox] Check this to add a preview of the swatch at different thicknesses.

Bridging Test
[Checkbox] Check this to add a bridging test to the back of the card.

Line Margin
Determines how much space is between each line of text.

Line 1 Font, Line 2 Font, Line 3 Font, Line 4 Font, Spacer Font
Individual font settings for each line of text.

Individual font size settings for each line of text.

Spacer Bump Height
Adds extra thickness to the spacer.

Updates

Additional options have been added!

• Set custom swatch thickness (up to 4mm!)
• Center text (per-line)
• Alter text offset

Added option to render just the card or just the text. Export the results separately for multicolor printers.
