This sorts into my d3 (divided 1/3) gridfinity bins, has a footing for the tray, and holes for heat set inserts.

Now you can sort the screws directly into practical bins! Use my d3 bins (d2 wave can be used for 40 & 35 mm slots) to keep them separated. I found that the upstream handle caused binding, so I recommend using the “contour grip” instead of the “handle” when using the device. You probably still need to file the sides of the rotator and lubricate it such as with silicone grease.

Model origin

The author remixed this model.

Differences of the remix compared to the original

  • Modified tray with gridfinity baseplate.
  • Made unibody mainplate combining mainplate+sorter (prevents misalignment due to imperfections on edges being joined, or becoming off level due to glue hardening too fast). Last hole is cut off since all screws go in last bin anyway (and that way it is 224mm so it will fit on a smaller print bed. Cut more off to print on a smaller bed.)
  • Made non-unibody version of sorter that is rotated so the flat part prints on the bed (to make it flatter). However, the unibody version is recommended since it (this or the upstream version) is hard to align in when gluing a way that makes it work properly.
  • Added footer for base to help it not go off level.
  • Compatible with heat set inserts in key places for structure (prevent lift in middle, attach new footer).
  • Added lower grip (prevents binding).
  • Added version of clamp with sacrificial walls for printing on its side (for chemical bond between segments that are under stress, rather than having inter-layer bonds only).
  • The base has a ramp to guide stray screws (such as are released on a jam if you remove the rotator to unjam it) into the catch in the rear of the tray (from a wider opening that now matches the tray).
