Giant Checkers

These ~10 in. (250 mm) diameter giant checkers pieces are suitable for use on giant checker boards with 10-12 in. (250-300 mm) squares.

Roughly ultimate frisbee size, these giant checkers pieces are designed with no thin walls, and no extreme overhangs, for durability and ease of printing. Each piece is keyed with slots to twist lock a stack together for ease of transportation and storage.

Filament Requirements

Plan on using 4-5 kg of each color for 8-10 kg total. Filament is commonly available in 4 kg packs, or 10 kg packs of two different colors. 

ASA strongly recommended for outdoor sunny use. ABS or PETG are good alternatives otherwise. (ABS/ASA have lower density, 8 kg filament sufficient. PETG has higher density, 10 kg recommended.)

A minimal complete set of checkers has 12 pieces of each color (24 total).

Print Settings

Print with at least 3 walls and 3 top layers (standard 0.4 mm nozzle and 0.2 mm layers). Target a total filament usage of < 330 g/piece for 8 kg total, or < 410 g/piece for 10 kg total.

Pro tip: Gyroid infill helps mitigate warping on large prints!
