This is my take on Adam Savage's idea of an Attenuator, basically a part attached to the Proton Pack that clips on to the shoulder strap mostly to have some lights on the front of the pack, but also some added functionality. The design is based on a panel that was used in between the pack and wand on the Sentry Turrets in Ghostbusters Afterlife, with some alterations like adding the cyclotron lens from the arm wand from Frozen Empire. For functionality the intention for the knob is to be volume control you can change without taking the pack off, and the three buttons to toggle the power of the pack, change between the ‘09 Video Game modes, and to manual trigger the venting of the pack so you don’t have to hold the trigger for 45 seconds every time you want to show off the venting (which is also a feature from the video game).

Real World Components

These were the components I used in making mine so you have a starting point in gathering any of the parts you might need.

Notes for Printing

These models were made with the intention of having the bolts dropped into place during the print process, instead of using heat-set inserts. The idea being the print is to be paused at specific points in order to pop the associated nuts in place, then continuing the print so the model has perfectly working threads that won't wear out and adds strength to each connection. The parts that will need pauses to insert the hardware are:

SentryPanel_MainBody-Upright.stl
  • 3.8mm - At this point add 4 M3 nuts horizontally, one per corner.
  • 9.8mm - At this point add the bottom 2 M3 nuts of the Umbilical Panel vertically.
  • 27mm - At this point add the top 2 M3 nuts of the Umbilical Panel vertically.
  • 31.2mm - Finally add the 4 M3 nuts for the left Instrument Panel horizontally, and the 2 M4 nuts for the right Patch Panel
SentryPanel_Cycltron-Shroud.stl
  • 3.8mm - Add in the 3 M3 nuts horizontally, one per post.
SentryPanel_Powercell-Lens.stl
  • 30mm - Add the M8 nut horizontally in the center void.

I have included a SentryPanel.3mf file which is the work file I used in Bambu Labs to print everything. It includes using supports, support blockers to prevent the supports from blocking the ability to drop the nuts in to the voids, and tries to group like objects together. There may be better ways of organizing and printing these, but I'm unfortunately a modeler/designer, and hobbyist printer at best, though these certainly worked for me to make a working model.

If you have any questions feel free to ask and hopefully I can get back to you in a timely manner, though I check back here infrequently.
